A boy and his trainsWe recently went to the B&O Railroad Museum for the first time.  That’s kind of odd actually considering I grew up near Baltimore.  But I guess it’s like people only going to the monuments when they have guests from out of town.  The first thing to keep in mind is that some interest in trains will greatly behoove you.  Because, being that it’s a train museum, they are everywhere.  Engines, cabooses, passenger cars.  The first building you enter, where you pay your entrance fee, has a huge display of various model trains.  That will hold the kids’ attention for a little while.  Then it’s time to move on.  There’s a huge round building (I forget the name) that houses many of these trains.  There’s plenty of room for the kids to move around and there are several trains that they’re allowed to enter.  Looking out the windows, pretending to be the engineer.  Outside there is a wooden train which serves as a playground, complete with bell.  There are also some nicely placed benches nearby where parents can watch them play. All in all, the kids had a great time.  And that’s even without the train ride that is normally included in the admission price (we went pre-season).
